Adding to the drama, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a separate lawsuit in September, alleging that Live Nation and Ticketmaster colluded with scalpers to inflate ticket prices on the secondary market. While Live Nation refuted these allegations, Ticketmaster took steps to curb scalping by banning multiple accounts and shutting down its TradeDesk platform.
In a move that could reshape the industry, Ticketmaster appointed Saumil Mehta as its new president last month, tasking him with leading an “AI transformation.” During the earnings call, Rapino praised former president Mark Yovich for expanding the company’s international presence and explained that Mehta’s technical expertise would help modernize the platform. “How do we ensure we’re leading the charge on AI, from the front door to every level of our enterprise?” Rapino asked, hinting at a tech-driven future.
