Kiki S I finished it in less than a day, its amazing I couldnt stop watching! I wanted to watch it just to practice my french but it really caught my attention. This is my favorite show. The acting is great and so is the story and the plot. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/06/24 Full Review Alexis H I ran across this show 2 nights ago and binge-watched it.I couldn't stop thinking about all the various twists and catalysts each show brought to the foreground. As someone who lived through the 1990's I felt fairly represented and loved seeing that even though we all grow up countries away we were all going through the same human problems. It was also a sense of pride seeing how far we have progressed over the years, at least in the writer's eyes. This was a very thought provoking and all-the-feels show. Great job! Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/31/24 Full Review Frank F I picked up the series on Netflix as I am traveling soon to France. This series had an interesting premise so, on the surface, I thought I would like it and as a plus I could learn some current French expressions. Charlotte Sanson's beliefs are typical for current French culture which is trying a little too hard to mimic the current hedonistic American culture. She represents a pretend virtue framework where on her value's pyramid, a Catholic Christian , is the sub-human and lowest rung. Everyone is miserable. The family is the principal cause of the misery. The protagonist character, Lea, is celebrated for entering the néant or cosmic abyss after saving an erotic quasi relationship. France continues to show its disdain for religious culture. Jonathan, the son, of a religious family --religious in name only-- is the one bad guy-- and Sandra, the super "mean girl" is the daughter of this religious family who is pregnant and has an abortion. The irony of the film is that there is a drastic contrast between the celebration of the sexed out, drugged out, and rock and rolled out ugly culture-- disgustingly ugly and graffiti covered buildings-- and the beauty of nature. France doesn't even recognize the beauty of its pre-revolutionary Architecture where religious architecture competed directly with nature for beauty; and more often than not, prevailed. The acting is good; the crafting of the movie is adequate. The sound track is distracting. The story is morbid. I'm impressed with and gushing over this series. Just watch it. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/04/23 Full Review Alessandro A Finally something worth to be seen.
